Steve Driskill / Assistant Pastor

I was born in Roanoke, VA.  I moved to Richmond in 1960 where I lived until going to college at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!).  I moved to the Chatham area following graduation where I lived until getting married to my wife Mary in 1991.  We live in Ringgold where we raised our two sons Dane and Ethan.  I have worked in retail and insurance for many years including owning an old-fashion hardware store.  However, it is in the church where I receive my greatest satisfaction.

Who is the most influential person in your life?
Although my parents instilled most of the values I have today, it is my two sons and wife who inspire me daily as they live out Philippians 4:13—I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

What inspires you?
Working in the church, seeing how God changes lives, especially the hearts of young people.

What do you like to do apart from the ministry?
I enjoy golfing, gardening and the outdoors.  I enjoy anything Virginia Tech. Since Dane and Ethan were about 5 years old, Mary and I have enjoyed an amazing sports journey with the boys.  We have always enjoyed traveling and finding the little known nuggets of beautiful places and people.

Little known fact about you:
I was voted most spirited in high school.

My favorite date restaurant:
Saratoga Grill in Hillsborough, NC.  It is where we enjoyed our second date and consistently return for special occasions.

Guilty pleasure:
Sweets; Key Lime pie, German chocolate pie, pecan pie and most things coconut.

 Who do you root for?
Virginia Tech and whoever my boys are playing for.
